Sakinah Williams, LSW
Sakinah is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) in New Jersey and Pennsylvania with 30 years of experience in child welfare, child protective services, family services, prevention services, adoption services, and advocacy.
Sakinah received her Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from Temple University and her Master’s degree in Law and Social Policy (MLSP) from Bryn Mawr College.
Sakinah is experienced in treating children, adolescents, and families with diverse backgrounds through in-home services, outpatient services, and residential treatment facilities. Sakinah has extensive training which includes, trauma informed treatment, strengthening families, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, behavior modification, and the nurtured heart approach.
Sakinah’s treatment philosophy is to take a strength-based perspective. Sakinah believes in using strengths to offset any challenges a person may experience to build resilience in children and families and strengthen bonds. Sakinah has experience with assisting children and families in addressing challenges around trauma, abuse and neglect, behavioral needs, depression, anxiety, and overall difficulties with adjustment.
Sakinah provides a safe, respectful, nonjudgmental environment that allows individual expression and comfort. At A Better Tomorrow Counseling Services, Sakinah’s goal is to assist, strengthen, and empower children and families by building resilience, self esteem, and strong family bonds.
