Helene DeMeo, LSW
Helene has been a social worker for 40 years attending graduate school from Temple University with a graduate degree as an MSW and a license as a LSW in NJ. She has a post masters training as a Marriage & Family therapist catering to Family systems counseling with the focus of family dynamics with couples, parents, children & adolescents.
She has worked as a school social worker with children and adolescents with school issues such as IEPs and 504 plan classifications, ADHD, individual learning classifications and bullying. She also has a substance addiction counseling school certification specializing with children and adolescents with a substance problem themselves or with a family member.
Helene has a great deal of experience counseling adults and adolescents and their families with addiction issues where she was employed at a partial day program with many individuals who attended inpatient rehabilitation and who were involved with the court systems for DUIs and other addiction problems. She has worked in nursing homes counseling older clients and their families with issues of an illness or dementia and also as a Hospice social worker providing end-of-life issues with clients and their families.
Helene worked as a social worker at Cooper Hospital in the Pediatric Oncology-Hematology Department counseling pediatric patients with their families who had cancer and sickle cell diseases. She also has experience counseling individuals and families regarding gender issues, trauma & grief concerns, family/children regarding divorce or separation, couples, families and individuals with ADHD, bipolar depression, anxiety, and other mental health diagnoses.
Helene provides CBT therapy to many of her clients. She worked in an urban city outpatient agency for many years with a diverse population. She is a sincere and a very empathetic therapist who focuses on assisting clients make the best choices for themselves that will assist them having a functional and happier life.
